Who am I anyway?

Can't imagine that anyone I don't know personally would be interested in this blog.  I find exchanging ideas on any given subject to be difficult to impossible on programs such as facebook, even emailing at times, so I blog not anticipating a discussion, rather simply stating my views.
I am a 67 year old White male from a small central Texas town of less than 700 inhabitants.  I was born and raised here and have lived here for all but about 10 years of my life.
I am retired from state employment for fourteen years.  Most all my work experience is in human services ranging from mental health/psychiatric, social research, employment, and vocational rehabilitation.
I am married once for 40 years.
I once considered myself to be an Evangelical Christian and have extensive experience in many areas of local church programs. I have been a music director, a sunday school teacher, deacon, and on most committees found in Baptist churches.  I have preached on more than one occasion, conducted funerals, worked in missionary projects both domestically and internationally.
I am a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer having served in Bolivia from '64-66.
I served in the U.S. Army  in Korea with a total service of 19 months.
I am a college graduate, a musician, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandparent, and cousin to name a few of my identities.
I love Brazilian music, traveling, languages, maintaining friendships, birds, and photography.
I am a person who prefers to do things for myself and have experience in most phases of painting, carpentry, plumbing, gardening, furnitiure refinishing, an restoration work in general.
I have spoken Spanish since 1964 and lately am learning Portuguese.  I have many friends, most of whom do not live near me.
I am a Progressive Democrat politically.
All of this characterics have resulted in my outlook on life.
